The Mediterranean
The Western Mediterranean covers the area of the Mediterranean Sea between and including Spain, France and Italy. It is arguably the most well-known and prestigious cruising ground in the world.
Possibly the most sought after of these areas is the French Riviera, a playground for the rich and famous, including international events such as the Cannes film festival and neighboring Monte Carlo's Rally. Home to some of the most prestigious restaurants, shops and hotels in the world - Cannes, Nice, Antibes and St. Tropez await on the French coast.
The Italian Riviera offers such gems as Sanremo, the picturesque Porto Fino and the grand city of Genoa.
A cruise to the Amalfi coast south of Naples will allow you to include visits to Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii. You could also pass the day browsing the legendary shops at Capri. The Blue Grotto here is still one of the world's wonders.
The Spanish Balearics form another great region for cruising. Palma de Mallorca is a good access point for flights. Ibiza is nearby (famous for the busy nightlife), or you might prefer to visit the more remote and quiet Menorca and Formentera.
The Eastern Mediterranean includes Greece, Turkey, and the newly rediscovered Croatian coast. Nothing compares to this part of the Mediterranean with perfect blue green seas matched with ancient history and its splendors.
